When purchasing or traveling with cannabis concentrates, you’ll need something to put it in. This is where the term concentrate container is coined from. Concentrate containers are used for the storage and sale of cannabis concentrates. At Creative Labz we carry a variety of glass jar sizes spanning from a 5mL glass jar, to a 3oz. Glass jar that can store up to an ounce (28g) of concentrate. Though there are silicone and plastic concentrate containers, the best type to use is glass. Glass concentrate containers are durable, non-porous, and smell proof. Our glass jars come with airtight child resistant lids that will meet all state compliance codes. These lids ensure that odors are maintained and that your extracts are not overexposed to the air. Overexposure to open air will degrade concentrates, causing them to lose potency and terpene flavor. The lids we carry all come with a foam liner that creates an airtight seal and prevents leaks.
Concentrate containers are made of either glass, plastic or silicone. Here at Creative Labz we recommend using a glass concentrate container as they are non-porous, smell proof, and can be made child resistant state compliant.
The most common ways to store wax and in concentrate containers, extract envelopes, and concentrate applicators.
- Concentrate Container: Concentrate containers are made of either glass, plastic or silicone. Here at Creative Labz we recommend using a glass concentrate container as they are non-porous, smell proof, and can be made child resistant state compliant.
- Extract Envelopes: These envelopes come in sizes of roughly 2”x3” and are a perfect fit for 1 gram of concentrate. They are often referred to as shatter envelopes as they are most commonly used for the storage of shatter, a flat, glass like form of cannabis concentrate.
- Concentrate Applicator: A concentrate applicator is a syringe with a glass tip that has a specially designed tip to apply concentrates to pre-rolls, cannabis flower, or to dab from directly. Concentrate syringes are made from borosilicate glass and can withstand high heat making them a favorable packaging method among those who prefer concentrates. It is to be noted that concentrate applicators are used to package only certain consistencies of concentrate such as distillate.
A dab container is commonly called a concentrate container. Concentrate containers can be made of glass, plastic, or silicone. The best containers to keep your concentrates in are made of glass. At Creative Labz, we carry an array of glass concentrate jars in both clear and black. It is important to note that dabs can be stored in more than just containers; for example, concentrates are commonly stored in envelopes.
Dabs are commonly packaged in concentrate containers, extract envelopes, or concentrate applicators all depending on the consistency of the dabs. If your dabs are more of a crumble or diamond consistency, it is recommended to use a glass jar. Dabs that are “sappier” are best stored in concentrate applicators and extract envelopes. Lastly, dabs that have a glass like look and feel (shatter) are best stored in extract envelopes or glass concentrate containers.
Dab containers, also known as concentrate containers come in a variety of sizes. At Creative Labz we have containers that can fit anywhere from 1 gram to 28 grams (1 ounce) of concentrate.
5mL Glass Jar: This jar is best suited to fit 1 gram of concentrate.7mL Glass Jar: Jars of this size comfortably fit 1gram to 1.75 grams (half eighth) of concentrate.15mL Glass Jar: Our 15mL concentrate containers are a popular choice as they can fit between 3.5 grams and 7 grams of cannabis extract.3oz. Glass Jar: 3oz glass jars are becoming the new wave when it comes to concentrate packaging! They are a great fit for 28 grams (1 ounce) of concentrate and have a wide enough side where they can be branded with labeling, while still allowing for consumers to see the product in size.
At Creative Labz we carry a 3oz glass jar that is a great fit for an ounce (28 grams) of concentrate.
Shatter can be stored in a glass jar! Glass jars are the most widely used form of concentrate packaging and shatter is just one of the consistencies of extracts that can be stored in them. With a dab tool, one will easily be able to remove the shatter from the glass jar.
Concentrates should be easy to remove from their containers making it important to shop for jars that are specifically for concentrates. When someone references a time when they had issue with removing concentrate out of the container, they most likely were using a jar that was not for cannabis extracts. Proper jars will be child resistant, smell proof, and will have full access to the bottom of the jar. Concentrate containers will have domed interiors that allow for dab tools to easily scrape all of the product out of the jar.
Separating dabs comes down to the consistency of the product. For most consistencies, a dab tool will properly separate your concentrate up into the desired portion whether it be for personal use, or in preparation to be packaged. Shatter on the other hand has a different way of being broken down. Breaking it apart for personal use is fairly straightforward, use a dab tool to separate off your desired piece. When separating a large amount of shatter, we recommend placing it in the freezer for 15-20 seconds or so. By doing this the shatter will become more brittle and stable (meaning it can be handled without being as sticky). Once brittle, place the shatter between two large pieces of parchment paper and lightly break apart the concentrate mass. WARNING: Be careful when packaging shatter! If it falls from any height it will shatter like glass leaving a sticky mess that will be with you for months to come.
Extract coin envelopes are 2”x3” envelopes meant for the packaging of cannabis concentrate. These envelopes are relatively inexpensive and easily brandable. Upon visiting most any dispensary, you are likely to encounter the use of extract envelopes for the storage of concentrate.
No! Our envelope extraction can be a reflection of your brand and style. But you’d have to send a model and have a sit down with our in-house designer. After that, we would ask for a minimum order of about 3000 pieces and an upfront payment.
If perhaps you can't afford that, you can settle for our pre-printed envelopes for a start. Over time, you'd see that our quality is topnotch and make your desired custom order.
At Creative Labz, we work only with the standard size (2.25"x3.25"). With that measurement, you can fit in roughly 1g of shatter.
Yes! Our envelope extraction comes with industry-standard slits at the back. With that, you needn't worry about adhesives or sealants. Thanks to the slit feature, you can use our envelopes as many times as possible, provided that you keep them in good shape.
When using shatter envelopes, the best thing to do is wrap the concentrates in parchment paper. It is very important to not confuse parchment paper with wax paper, as wax paper will allow the extract to seep into the paper rendering it useless.
Shatter wax is essentially the same as all other extracts, but in a glass, brittle like form. This form of concentrate is easy to package in extract envelopes wrapped in parchment paper. This form of concentrate can be one of the more stable forms of wax, meaning it can be handled easily without making such a sticky mess.
At Creative Labz we sell bulk boxes of parchment paper squares. Our boxes contain up to 1,000 sheets, a good starting amount as these are sure to get used up before long. When ordering something so commonly used like parchment paper, it is best to go ahead and grab bulk.
Non-stick parchment paper is safe for weed and wax. In the cannabis industry, parchment paper is heavily used in the production and storage of marijuana concentrates. At Creative Labz we recommend using parchment paper for the storage of concentrates and shatter in our extract envelopes.
Parchment paper can be found in bleached or unbleached versions. It has been coated with silicone, which makes it nonstick and also heat-resistant. Because of this parchment paper is one of the most common ways to store concentrate before it is broken down for individual sale. In addition, dabs are often packaged by the gram in parchment paper (particularly shatter) and packaged in extract envelopes. This combination is one of the most common forms of packaging for marijuana concentrates.
This coating is the biggest difference between parchment paper and waxed paper: waxed paper is coated with paraffin wax, which will melt or even burn. Parchment paper also comes in pre-cut sheets, even more convenient.
When removing dabs from parchment paper, start by placing the concentrate and paper in the freezer for roughly 2 minutes. The goal is not to freeze the extract solid, but to make it harden up enough to be easily separated from the paper. It is important to store concentrates that are wrapped parchment at room temperature or in the refrigerator. If it becomes too warm, the concentrate can penetrate the silicone coating on the paper thus fusing the dabs to the paper. If you have worked with concentrates before, you know how frustrating of an issue this can be.
