Wax, shatter, live resin, rosin, and badder don't spoil like food, but they lose flavor, aroma, and potency when they're exposed to the wrong conditions. A badly stored concentrate can turn dark, dry, or sugary, and the terpenes that customers pay a premium for are the first thing to go.

Four things do most of the damage:

- Oxygen. Air exposure oxidizes the product, darkening its color and dulling its flavor.
- Moisture. Humidity can change texture and, in the worst case, encourage mold or other contamination.

How to Store Concentrates: Temperature and Placement
- Keep it cool. Store concentrates in a cool place, away from heat sources like windowsills, cars, and electronics. Room temperature or below is best.
- Keep it dark. Use opaque packaging or keep clear jars inside a box, drawer, or cabinet.
- Keep it sealed. Close the lid tightly right after each use, and don't leave jars open while you work.
- Use the right size jar. Less empty space in the container means less air sitting on the product.
- Refrigerate for longer storage. Cold storage slows degradation. When you take a jar out of the fridge, let it reach room temperature before opening it so condensation doesn't form on the concentrate.
